New Day

I think it is time for a change. A change for something in my life. I am not sure yet if it will be moving the furniture around, painting a wall or two or just doing something different with my mornings and evenings. This change does not include the changing of jobs. That unfortunately is not a possibility.
I feel like a need a new direction....with something. Maybe I will take up a new hobby. How hard can that be. Will I still have time to craft, scrapbook and do my card making while still making time for my family and friends. I guess I do need some selfish time. Everyone should be able to have 2-3 hours to themselves once a week. It is a new day. I will start something tomorrow. What will it be, you ask??? I am not sure but I am inspired to do so.

Some Sleep Please!

Boy, oh, boy. It is 4:11am and I am writing because I can't seem to sleep well these last few days. I guess it doesn't help that I don't feel well and am running a fever. The last thing I want is the flu....not to mention the Swine Flu. UGH! I have definitely stayed clear from anyone who was itching their nose, coughing or looking slightly pale. I have been so crazy about hand sanitizer and washing my hands when in contact with any surface outside my home. I just don't want to be sick again!
Poor Jared, he looked at me last night and said, "Here we go again". I hate that he knows bad is coming....it's like he can sense the doctor bills coming. Well, all I can do is get plenty of rest and fluids. Again, it doesn't help that I can't sleep. So, some sleep......please!

Fall

I am so excited it is officially fall. Though the weather is trying to trick us, it is slowly cooling down and the leaves will start to soon change to the beautiful shades of orange, yellow and red. I love fall. The thought of baking fresh ginger cookies and pumpkin bread gets me excited for the season.

This also means that there is lots of cards to be made.....Halloween cards, Thanksgiving cards, and Christmas cards. I better start on the Christmas cards soon. Last year I didn't get all of them out. It is crazy how fast time flies. Well, beware Mom.....we have cards to make!

Younger than You

Jared and I were talking when we noticed it was dark outside. Had it already been that long since I had gotten home from work and had dinner done and dishes washed? We thought it was about time for bed. Then we looked at the clock and realized that....it was not even 9:00pm. We were exhausted. Neither one of us did anything to completely drain us today yet we were so tired. Jared has come to the conclusion that our minds are trying to tell us that we are old. I then begged to differ. I was NOT old. He was old. I am a mere three years younger than he. He wasn't happy that I pointed this out. HA!

Figured Out

Monday starts the new week. This is going to be a long one for me. I lost an employee last week, I have another on maternity leave and one other that is just part time. I need a vacation but have no time to take it. No, I am not whining, just stating the obvious.

Though I find myself knee deep in work, my days are getting over faster and without panic. At the end of the day I know I still have a lot of work to do however I still have tomorrow. There are only so many tomorrows until deadlines need to be reached. I thought having an assistant would help me stay more organized which in fact it made me crazy. I just might be a control freak! She did help me a lot but then when I did need to do something on my own I would find myself asking her where, what, when and why. I wasn't entering in half of my accounting so when I went to bill I was completely confused. Hopefully I have things figured out.

I am not sure if I am going to hire anyone new. My employee on maternity leave is due to come back part time for the next month or so and then maybe full time. With business going well right now it is still hard to see what the next couple of months will bring. Gotta watch those payroll and spending dollars. Especially if I am not sure if the whole assistant thing is helping or hurting.

Another day, another dollar.

I'm not the sick one!

Jared woke up this morning not feeling well. With his birthday Monday, it looks as though it is going to be a quiet one. I keep telling him that it has to be his allergies but he looks miserable and says he feels horrible. I am just hoping that I don't get sick. I'm always the sick one. There is a certain determination I have at the moment to NOT be the sick one.

As much as I feel bad, I am staying away from Jared until he is feeling better. There is something about men and when they don't feel well. It's like life as they know it has completely ended. Someone needs to tend to their every need and want. I think it is so funny. Yet if a woman is sick, we are still expected to act as if we are fine, take care of the laundry, the kids/pets and so forth. Well, I guess I pity him. He looks so helpless.

Let's hope he feels better soon!

Life Remembered

This past weekend, a dear friend of our family had passed away after a two year battle with a rare form of cancer. He fought until the very end with a smile on his face. He never wanted anyone to feel bad for him or show pity towards him. My love goes out to his wife and two daughters. They were so strong throughout this journey.

We don't want to remember him in his last stages but we do want to remember his life and his legacy. He was great man full of heart and laughter. We all thought for sure with his great attitude and yearn to fight that he would and could overcome the disease. In the end it was too much on his body and over took the last of him and his strength.

Never, ever take one day of your life for granted. Things like this make us hold the ones we love a little longer, a little tighter.
