No Doubt

My best friend Molly and I had an exciting road trip to Auburn, WA for the NO DOUBT REUNION TOUR. It was amazing. Jared saw No doubt on American Idol for a special performance and told my they were going to stink. I didn't care...I love No Doubt! It turns out, that I got the tickets, got Mols and left for an exciting concert! Not only did No Doubt preform, Paramore, another one of my favorite bands was the opening act. It had to be one of the best concerts I had ever been to. I am so glad I didn't let Jared talk me out of this! It was super fun. Here are some pictures to prove it!

Patience

A sign of kindness sits in patience. During my morning errands this morning I encountered more rude people than normal. A coincidence. Maybe. Maybe I was watching for it more than normal since I lay in bed last night wondering where some people find their patience. First I was at the tire store to have my tires rotated and aligned. I was waiting for my turn to be helped when a gentleman....not sure if he was a gentleman, but a middle aged upset human being, stepped in front of me in line to be helped next. The service man behind the counter had motioned and said that I had been waiting and it was my turn.
In return the man who cut me off said he was in a hurry and that his time was valuable. I'm sorry, am I not a person? Is my time and worth not valuable? Instead of keeping my mouth shut I positioned myself toward him countering that he was rude but obviously someone made him out to be king for the day and no one got the memo. However, I did let him go in front of me. At that point I really just didn't care.
On to Target I found myself waiting in line at checkout and the poor cashier couldn't seem to get anything working. So I sat patiently for 10 minutes waiting to pay for something simple and yet she was rude when I asked if I should stand in another line. I could tell she was frustrated but her anger at the computer shouldn't be lashed out at the people standing in line. So I waiting patiently with a smile until the manager shut her station down and sent me to customer service to be rang up. When the cashier at customer service rang my item up incorrectly I politely said that it was a lower price and that I would be more than happy to check, it might have been my mistake. She said she had rang it correctly and that it couldn't have been on sale. So i said fine, I will go check. She rolled her eyes and said whatever. Seriously...isn't the customer always correct? Surprise, Surprise, I was right. I walked back up to the customer service desk where she was speaking with her manager at this point. I motioned that I was ready and that it was indeed rang incorrectly. She ripped the receipt out of my hand and fixed it. I patiently waited with a smile. Patience is a virtue.

A Wink and A Smile

Have you ever thought about the aftermath of giving a complete stranger a smile? It could go all of a matter of three ways.

1. The stranger could think that you are genuinely nice.
2. The stranger might think you are being fresh and flirty.
3. The stranger appears to be scared into thinking your crazy.

Any of which could be a great turn for a laugh later. Most people think you have something in your eye when you wink anymore so a smile usually does the job.

Does it really matter the time of day, the mess you have been in or anything else for that matter to turn and smile to someone on the street? It doesn't. What most people don't know is that smile is a sense of warmth for anyone. A sense of kindness that anyone should be able to see everyday but we don't anymore. Take it upon yourself and just smile. Doesn't matter where you start, even if it is to run out and grab the morning paper. You never know who is watching.....okay not like creepy watching...wake up people and get it together. Just SMILE and just be.

Sleepless

I find myself wondering wide awake in the early hours of the morning for the last week or two. Does this mean my mind is full of thoughts or that I'm not tearing myself thin enough in the day to make me pound the bed when the sun finally sets? Of all days I surely thought today would be the day I would settle into a deep sleep upon hitting the sheets. In this case, I was definitely wrong.
Does insomnia last forever once it starts?
Once an alert mind sits and thinks, the imagination starts to run. Where does your mind go? Lying in the dark, I start wondering all the possibilities of dreams and what they mean or where they could take me. Imagination goes on the loose, I could write forever going on and on of what goes on in my head when I can't sleep.

Little Girls

Today I was with my nieces who I don't get to see too often and it reminded me of when I was little and care free. Their sweet giggles and voices always get me. Quinn is so girly. She loves all auntie Heather's fun purses, lipstick and jewelry. Jared thinks I am teaching her bad habits early, however this is all her own doing. I haven't told her anything about all my fun stuff. She was in my room the other night and looking at my large selection of shoes and admiring how some of them matched my handbags. It is a bad habit that, yes I should not encourage. When I heard this little voice say, "OH AUNTIE, these shoes are beautiful, and they match this purse" followed with some giggles, I smiled big and Jared rolled his eyes and walked away quickly saying I was a terrible influence. I just laughed. It's fun, I was a little girl a long time ago and always dreamed about all the fun shoes and purses I could have. I see it happening all over again.
